"As long as human society continues to allow cows to be regulaerly killed slaughter houses, there cannot be any question of peace & prosperity"(Swami Pabhupada)...*One cow in its life time can feed 4,10,440 people once a day while its meat is sufficient only for 80 people(Swami Dayanand Saraswati)...Cow is the source of progress and prosperity.  In many ways it is superior to one’s mother(Mahatma Gandhi)...Killing a bull is equivalent to killing a cow. (Jesus Christ)...Cow’s milk is tonic, its ghee is ambrosia and its meat is disease. (Hazarat Mohamed)

The very word govinda, which is a famous name of Lord Krishna, means "one who brings satisfaction to the cows". And Lord Krishna has many such transcendental names which reflect His relationship to the cows. Gopala means "the protector of the cows", and Krishna is famous throughout India as bala-gopala, "the child who protects the cows".
Krishna says in Srimad Bhagavatam, “I can be worshiped within the Cows by offerings of grass and other suitable grains and paraphernalia for the pleasure and health of the Cows, and one may worship Me within the Vaishnavas by offering loving friendship to them and honoring them in all respects.” SB11.11.43

“Of all the devotees, this Govardhana Hill is the best! O my friends, this hill supplies Krishna and Balarama, along with Their calves, cows and cowherd friends, will all kinds of necessities-water for drinking, very soft grass, caves, fruits, flowers and vegetablesetables. In this way the hill offers respects to the Lord. Being touched by the lotus feet of Krishna and Balarama, Govardhana Hill appears very jubilant.” (Srimad Bhagavatam 10.21.18)
